If you thought the Chicago Spire was a disruption to the skyline, check out this thing. The Dutch have designed a solar-powered high-rise tower for Rotterdam. The ambitious plan will minimize wind, keep the carbon footprint of the architecture to a minimum and make use of a network of walkways to connect the tower to the land. This design will have the elevators and stairs on the outside of the tower... in the last photo you can see the floating walkways leading to the elevators. Wild.
